WATER

A Borehole

 

Drink water.

Water is life.

From this well,

Those who drink-

Will never thirst.

Up down, up down!

Drops of sour sweat-

Armpits wet,

Smelly bodies-

Fetching clean water.

During a genocide-

In 1983, a body was dumped,

Into this well alive-

Today we drink from it again-

And call it democracy.

Ungabon'umuntu,

Ovotel'iZANU,

Uyahlanya,

Uyaloya,

Batshonjal'eTjolotjo.
